1. From Attendee to Trainee: Congratulations Hagie! (CLICK HERE)

We'd like to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to our Trainee, Hagie, who has achieved his Level 3 Youth Award. Hagie has been studying for his Award at Bradford College as part of his Traineeship. What many don't know, however, is that Hagie's journey with us began a long time ago.

We interviewed Hagie about the story so far…

2. Ju Jitsu: I get knocked down, but I get up again (CLICK HERE)

Throughout the year, we’ve greatly enjoyed seeing young people flourish in our Ju-Jitsu Development Centre. Youngsters from our hubs from across our District join together every week to learn ju-jitsu with Sensei Mumtaz.

This summer term, young ones from South Bradford and Manningham were busy preparing for their next belt gradings- which were a big hit!

Congratulations to all our young people, each achieved their next belt, taking them to the next level. Well done to all for your discipline, persistence and determination. We are all so proud of you!

3. SCRUB THE DECKS: Music taster (CLICK HERE)

Windhill Youth Club had an exciting visitor. Shaun from All Stars Music came and set up his gear to host a Music Tech Master Class giving our young people a wonderful experience and opportunity.

It was fantastic to see our young people build up the confidence let loose and have a go!

We may have a future DJ in our midst…

HITTING THE HEIGHTS, MAKING A SPLASH: Doe Park! (CLICK HERE)

Our annual trip to Doe Park was a great success! Children and young people from across our 5 hubs visited the much loved activities centre for a day of challenge and adventure.

Throughout our time, we tackled obstacle courses, high ropes, kayaking and raft-building! Not only did we have lots of fun, but the youngsters were able to challenge themselves and face their fears.

"It was wonderful to witness the young people stepping out their comfort zones, and conquering their fears if heights and water. It was great to see the social cohesion between the centres, including teamwork skills, encouraging one another, and forming new friendships. It's the reason we do what we do!" - Anna, OIAM Community Activator.

Here's what some of our young people had to say:

  • "That was so fun! I did my victory dance at the end!"
  • "I feel so proud of myself for overcoming my fear of heights."
  • "The obstacle course was amazing- I want to do it again!"

4. GOING WILD! Our 24-hour Wild Camping Adventure (CLICK HERE)

This summer, 9 young people from Keighley took on a 24-hour Wild Camping challenge at Woodsworth Exploring.

Challenged with budgeting, shopping, and cooking on the campfire the real adventure began after sunset... We embarked on a 2-hour night-walk. The young people had to use a map to navigate their way back to camp.

A huge thank you to Duncan and the team at Woodsworth Exploring.

5. JUMP AROUND! Insane Air & Aqua Park (CLICK HERE)

Holiday fun; energetic excursions to Insane Air and Sheffield Aqua Park.

14 children and young people from our Windhill and Manningham hubs joined together for a trip to Insane Air, Bradford’s trampoline and inflatable park. There were lots of obstacles that pushed us to our limits and tested our agility, team-work, and perseverance.

"It was really hard to get over the bumps, but Bryony helped me."

Similarly, we had a blast at Sheffield Aqua Park. 10 Young people from Keighley donned their wetsuits to tackle a giant inflatable obstacle course. It was a day of endurance, laughter… and cold water!

"That was unreal! A 10/10 day for me."

We’re so proud of our children and young people for their ‘have a go’ attitude and the way they encouraged one another.

Thank you to all of our generous supporters for affording us these enriching opportunities to have fun, build confidence and create lasting memories.

"I learnt that you can do anything you put your mind to." - Rebecca.

A huge thank you to Chris, Olivia, Dev and the wonderful Blacks team for an inspirational day.

"Every day is different when you work in law. When I get home I'm going to tell my friends that I've been at work!" - Lola.

9. Corporate Partners - Azets (CLICK HERE)

We are delighted that 23 local businesses gathered for our ‘Exchange’ breakfast this Summer. This time, we were kindly hosted by the wonderful Azets team at their stunning offices in the heart of Bradford.

After a warm welcome, Simon Robers (Tax Partner, Azets) gave an insightful talk about the new government’s tax plan and how this will impact UK business.

It was another successful gathering with friends, supporters and colleagues, all given the chance to network and grow relationships- we look forward to the next one!
