One In A Million is a Bradford District-based charity that engages with children and young people,aged between 5-19 in some of the UK’s most disadvantaged wards, through Sports, the Arts and Enterprise community programmes. 

For over 20 years, we’ve been a consistent presence on the ground, shaped by clear values, and a pathways approach rooted in the believe that every child is unique and valued, supporting them over time from first engagement through to confidence, progression and opportunity. 

We create safe spaces, affirming environments, and consistent, trusted relationships where children belong, and build resilience. Through this, we strengthen their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing, helping them grow aspiration and real life opportunities. We want every child to thrive as we reinforce their identity as ‘unique and valued’. Letting them know, they are ‘one in a million’.

Since we began our first project in 2006, we have remained a local-based children’s charity. Our passion has been to remain a continuous presence in their lives and increase the depth of support we can offer them in keeping with our core values; compassion, honesty, integrity and excellence.

Our passion is to make a difference to our city through the lives of children and young people. Although we work within parts of Bradford District, which fall within the top 1% of national deprivation, our motivation is to help change the negative statistics that hover over all children and young people so that they can become responsible citizens who thrive in life and in their communities.

As for our name:

We often get asked where it came from! We point people the parable of the ‘Boy and the Starfish’! “We made a difference to that one”.
