OIAM World of Work: Farms, Friends, & Fortem People!

An office with a view! 10 young people travel to the Dales to dive into the working world of Fortem People.

During the holidays, we embarked on another fantastic Introduction to the World of Work adventure. Young people from our Windhill and Manningham hubs joined together for an engaging and educational day at Fortem People's enchanting offices in the Yorkshire countryside.

The day began with a game of 'SNAP' where we had to match job descriptions to the right job titles. It wasn't long before we got competitive- lots of prizes on the line! After this, we were treated to a wonderful lunch by local food entrepreneurs, Oakleys. We were encouraged to ask the owner lots of questions as we ordered food!

After lunch, we had a treasure hunt around the farm to find 10 words, which were all important characteristics required for a job. Then we practised job interviews and explored open-ended and closed questions.

We had a fantastic time and learnt so much throughout the day. We'd like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Jane, Rachel, and the Fortem team for their incredible hospitality and the thoughtfulness of the activities prepared.

I learnt there are many different jobs around, and you don't have to be from a good background or have good qualifications to get a job or be successful. What's important is a good work ethic
