Packetts Tour de Dales 2024 - riding the EXTRA MILE to support One In A Million children’s charity!

On a glorious sunny weekend in May, the annual Packetts Tour De Dales charity bike ride returned for the 6th time to support Bradford children and young people’s charity, One In A Million.

The class of 2024 included a fabulous strong team of 23 determined riders, who donned this year’s sky blue jerseys and set off from Packetts HQ in Saltaire for a magical weekend of cycling in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, to the picturesque market town of Masham, led by Packetts Director Wayne Cowley.

Wayne Cowley, Packetts Director: “The Packetts Tour de Dales 2024 is an incredible weekend with amazing people riding through the Yorkshire Dales to raise money for a charity which is close to our hearts. A real highlight of the year”.

Day 1, saw the riders tackle a combined ascent of 14,000ft up some of Yorkshire’s most challenging hill climbs in two pelotons, well-supported by a fabulous support team! Still full of enthusiasm, the journey took the peloton through Pateley Bridge, Brimham Rocks and peloton 1 over the challenging Lofthouse Hill.

The day was complete as the riders rode victoriously into the famous Victorian Theakston Brewery in Masham.

Simon Thomas, Elite Floor Coverings: “Fantastic organisation. Fantastic cause. Wonderful weather and great people. I am so glad to support this charity”.

During the evening reception, riders exchanged stories about an incredible day in the saddle and some fun prizes were handed out by event organisers Wayne Cowley, Packetts, and Craig McHugh, One In A Million.

Day 2: The team embarked on a return journey via 100 miles of ‘Yorkshire flat’ countryside to the home of One In A Million at Valley Parade. The finish line awaited the riders at One In A Million Free School in Manningham, Bradford, where family, friends and colleagues cheered the rider’s home.

A buffet and certificate presentation concluded another successful Packetts Tour de Dales Charity Bike Ride! Everyone agreed, that camaraderie was the stand-out ingredient of another brilliant weekend.

Lucy Hewland, Pinsent Masons: “It's been an absolutely fantastic weekend of cycling and laughter with a great bunch of people. I’m already looking forward to the next one”.

One In A Million would like to say a special thank you to Wayne Cowley from Packetts and our incredible support team; Nicola and Rachel Cowley, Christian Allsworth and Wayne Jacobs from One In A Million for helping make this a weekend to remember.

Craig McHugh, One In A Million: “The Packetts Tour De Dales 2024 Charity Bike Ride is a magical weekend in our calendar, and we would like to thank everyone who took part in supporting our work amongst children and young people living in some of the most deprived communities of Bradford”.

The Packetts Tour de Dales Charity Bike Ride has raised £120,000 since its inception in 2016, which is beyond what we could ever have imagined! We are humbled and grateful to everyone who has donated and ridden the extra mile to support our vital work in the local community!
