Jamie's Ministry of Food: Family, Feast, and Fun!

Families have been coming together at All Saints Church for Jamie’s Ministry of Food, an 8-week Cook & Eat programme that puts healthy food, learning, and connection at its heart.

The weekly Tuesday sessions bring children and parents together to prepare and cook nutritious meals side by side. Currently, we have four families taking part; 10 young people together with 5 parents, all learning and supporting one another as family groups.

From the first session, the atmosphere was hands-on and encouraging. Families prepared healthy omelettes, with some trying mushrooms and peppers for the first time — a small step met with curiosity and pride.

In Week 2, families cooked a vegetable soup, guided by Soraya and Julie from Inn Churches. Alongside cooking, they explored the Eat Well Guide, learning how to choose the right ingredients and make balanced meals. Families also took some ingredients home to recreate the soup together in the week.

What has stood out across sessions so far is the way families have connected — supporting each other, asking questions, and celebrating their achievements. More than cooking: the sessions are building confidence and giving families space to spend quality time together.

We’d like to say a big thank you to Inn Churches, Soraya, Julie, and All Saints Church for creating such a supportive space for families to learn and grow together.

We look forward to sharing the final outcomes in our next news story - a real recipe for confidence, connection, and community.
