‘Sporting Lunch’ Raises Over £11,000 for One In A Million Charity
On Friday 17th October 2025, One In A Million was honoured to be chosen as this year’s beneficiary charity for the annual ‘Sporting Lunch’, held at the Craiglands Hotel, Ilkley.
Guests enjoyed a wonderful afternoon featuring a delicious two-course meal and lively entertainment thanks to the host, Pete Emmett. The highlight of the event was an inspiring live interview with Alistair Brownlee OBE — double Olympic Gold medallist, multiple World and European Champion, and Commonwealth Games Gold winner — widely regarded as one of Britain’s greatest Olympians of all time.
The Sporting Lunch was expertly organised by Tracy Buckley, Chris Allen (Blacks Solicitors), John Beevers (AAB Group), and John Durkan (Switalskis). Special thanks also go to Northern Monk and The Lingholme Estate for their generous prize donations.
Tracy shared: “This lunch is always a pleasure to organise and host, but this year was especially delightful, as we welcomed several new guests alongside companies that have supported us every year”.
Chris Allen, Managing Partner, Blacks Solicitors: “We were absolutely delighted to nominate One In A Million as the chosen charity at this year. The charity does truly inspiring work supporting children and young people across Bradford, and it was wonderful to see so many people come together to raise an incredible £11,000. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed — your generosity will make a real difference in our community”.
Wayne Jacobs, CEO of One In A Million, added: “I’ve been to countless lunches and dinners over the decades, and this was right up there with the best of them. Good company, good will in the room, good food and great fun — the balance was wonderful. Thank you and congratulations on such a successful event.”
From everyone at One In A Million, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Tracy, Chris, John B, and John D, and to all the guests who so generously supported the event. Your kindness and generosity continue to make a real difference.
