Volunteers

Becoming a volunteer with One In A Million Charity can be a very rewarding experience. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people from predominantly disadvantaged backgrounds within the Bradford district then there are many ways that you can help us.

How to become a volunteer?

If you think you might be interested in volunteering with One In A Million charity, please get in touch either by email at hellocharity@oneinamillion.org.uk. If you know what you would like to get involved with, that’s great, we will send you an application form. On the other hand, if you’re unsure of the role you could play or would like to see if we have any additional new opportunities, please feel free to contact us.

What qualities do we look for in a volunteer?

The kind of person we would like to join our trusted team of volunteers at One In A Million are those who are kind, dependable and reflect our cores values which are compassion, honesty, integrity and excellence. Complimenting these, you will be enthusiastic, fun and deeply passionate about working with children and young people from the Bradford district. Do you share these qualities and values?

So what is the volunteer recruitment process?

If you are interested in volunteering within one of our projects please contact hellocharity@oneinamillion.org.uk to request an application form.

Once you have filled this in please return it to hellocharity@oneinamillion.org.uk, who will then invite you to a meeting for an informal chat and to tell you more about the volunteering opportunities we have at One In A Million.

We will then write to two of your chosen references. Once these references are returned, we will then carry out your DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and discuss which location you will be placed at.

Creating a culture of safeguarding

One In A Million Charity (OIAMC) fully recognises its responsibilities for keeping its children and young people safe. We are committed to safeguarding aims to create a culture of vigilance.

Once we have your DBS check results back you can start volunteering. We will then put you in contact with a Community Activator or head coach for that area. We will stay in touch with you to see how you are getting on at your location and after 1-month we will do a review with you and then a further review at 6 months.

From time to time we will invite you to training and/or send you online training and policies to read.
