Businesses ‘driving’ change at the OIAM Charity Golf Day 2026!

One In A Million’s 19th annual Golf Tournament returned to Shipley Golf Club on Friday 21st August, bringing together 28 teams from across the Bradford business community for a fantastic day of golf, friendly competition and fundraising, with Business Enterprise Fund (BEF) as the event’s main sponsor.

With 18 holes of Stableford golf, there was plenty of opportunity for some friendly competition, with teams battling for the top spots while also taking on a number of fun challenges around the course.

The Charity Hole on the 17th gave players an opportunity to take on the ‘Hit the Green’ Charity Challenge to win a sleeve of balls, expertly run by our OIAM trustee Mick Spratt and balls generously supplied by Jas Athwal.

The Trick Shot Hole on the 11th proved to be a highlight, with professional golf trick shot artist Dean Davies entertaining teams as he performed impressive tricks and encouraged guests to take part in the fun!

There was also plenty of personality on the course, with one team even bringing along their own dog hand puppet mascot!

After 18 holes and a fantastic day out on the golf course, congratulations to our prize winners!

Sean Connell, Business Enterprise Fund: “BEF were delighted to sponsor the 19th One In A Million Charity Golf Day once again to support the great work the charity does supporting children and young people in disadvantaged communities of Bradford. The BF team had a great day, and it is important for us as a local business to support such a great charity and make a social impact in our District”.

Wayne Jacobs, CEO/ Co-Founder, One In A Million: “A massive thank you to Business Enterprise Fund as our main event sponsor. Thank you for your continued support for many years! We would also like to thank our supporting sponsors, Schofield Sweeney and Harvest Associates, for their generous support, alongside businesses and individuals who participated, helping to make the day so enjoyable. This event gives local businesses the opportunity to enjoy a great day of networking while playing golf, and most importantly, raising vital funds to support children and young people across the Bradford District”.

What some of our guests said about the day:

John Feaster, Partner, Schofield Sweeney: "It was a privilege to sponsor this year's One In A Million Charity Golf Tournament and be part of such a fantastic day. As our Charity of the Year, One In A Million is a cause that is very close to our hearts, and we're proud to support the incredible work they do for young people across the Bradford district. The event was brilliantly organised, the atmosphere was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many people coming together to raise funds and make a real difference in the community."

Mike Martin, Group Director, T L Dallas: “It was once again an absolute pleasure to support the One In A Million Golf Day and like so many of the Corporate Partners, we at T L Dallas Group value the very important work taking children from often little self-belief and encouragement to find their way in life with the confidence they gain and access to dedicated people and resources designed to help change their fortunes. Now more than ever raising funds is a challenge and the combination of this kind of event and the fantastic welcome on arrival, volunteers around the course and the Golf Club staff all make it a memorable day, even if some of my golf wasn’t very memorable. Thanks for looking after us, as always and we look forward to the next One In A Million event”.

Alec Williams, Commercial Finance Broker, YBFA: “Team YBFA had a great time once again at this year’s OIAM charity golf day. As always, we were looked after from start to finish, with breakfast, drinks, an evening meal & a pristine golf course at Shipley. The golf was fun, with the highlight being the trick shots on hole 11! One In A Million is a charity that YBFA support whenever they can. With Jake & Alec both living in the Bradford area, we find it important that we support our own community, and contributions to One in a Million do just that. It is a great charity that makes a real difference to the younger people in Bradford.

Ian Taylor, Club Secretary, Bingley Bantams Supporters Group: “We’ve had another brilliant day out on the course with OIAM. This was our fifth year helping out at the OIAM golf day, and hopefully it won’t be our last. As always, there was a great atmosphere, plenty of banter, and some very average golf! But the main thing is raising money for a fantastic cause, and that’s why we keep coming back. Roll on next year, I can’t wait for us all to get together again for another great day”.

The tournament raised vital funds for One In A Million’s community programmes, supporting children and young people across some of the Bradford District’s most disadvantaged communities. Through safe, affirming spaces and trusted relationships, we help young people build resilience, strengthen their wellbeing, grow in confidence and aspiration, and access opportunities to thrive.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, sponsored the event, donated prizes, supported the challenges and helped make the day a success. And special thanks also to our hole sponsors DS Insolvency, T L Dallas, YB Financial Advisory, Lily Comms, R Dawson Architect, Well Springs Nursing Home, AWB Charlesworth, Peregrine Print, Gear Club, Bingley Bantams and The Broadway Bradford.

Thank you for driving change with us. Here’s to the 20th Golf Day. We’ll see you on the course next year!
