Driving change! Barclays Footgolf unites businesses to support OIAM Charity

On Wednesday 10th September 2025, Barclays hosted their annual Footgolf event at Calverley Golf Course, proudly supporting One In A Million as their chosen charity.

Ten teams of four battled their way around nine challenging holes in blustery conditions, showing great teamwork and plenty of competitive spirit.

Kathryn Hawley, Barclays Relationship Manager, said, “All the attendees seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day, and it was wonderful to see everyone having such a great time. The weather was on our side, staying dry throughout the event, which added to the overall enjoyment. I am thrilled to share that we raised over £3,000 for such a remarkable charity. Thank you to all those who helped on the day, from entering teams to donating prizes. Your support and the efforts of the One In A Million team were instrumental in making the event a success. We look forward to more successful collaborations in the future!”.

Congratulations to YBFA (YB Financial Advisory Ltd) pictured below, who emerged as the winners of this year’s tournament with a sterling effort!

The day also featured a lively ‘Closest to the Pin’ challenge, kindly overseen by OIAM staff. The competition came down to the finest of margins, with Liam Middleton from Ward Hadaway taking the title by just millimetres — well done!

Reflecting on the event, Garry Mckie, Barclays Regional Manager, said, “It was our absolute pleasure to be able to support One In A Million Charity yesterday. Thanks to all who came out for a morning in the fresh air, and to Kathryn Hawley and Sinéad McCall for all of your efforts in organising and coordinating it!”.

The event concluded with well-earned refreshments at the clubhouse and a prize-giving ceremony.

Wayne Jacobs, OIAM CEO, added: Barclays support through this fantastic Footgolf event is an example of partnership at its best. We are grateful not only for the funds raised but also for the encouragement and belief they show in our work with children and young people in disadvantaged communities. Thank you to those staff that supported today”.

Finally, we extend our gratitude to every participant who gave so generously throughout the day. The funds raised will help One In A Million continue delivering sports, the arts, and enterprise programmes for children and young people across disadvantaged communities in Bradford.

A fantastic day of fun, fundraising, and friendship — we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
