Governance
In accordance with the Academies Act 2010, One In A Million Free School (OIAMFS) is a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee, incorporated on 27th March 2012. It has a two-tier structure consisting of (Academy Trust) Members and Directors (Governors’).
OIAMFS Academy Trust is the sponsors of the school. They retain ownership of the vision of the school and ensures it is upheld. The local Governing Body is delegated with a clearly defined role and responsibility to govern the overall performance of the school.
The Governing Body upholds a strong focus on 3 core strategic functions
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the executive leader/s to account for the educational performance of the school and its students, and the performance management of staff; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
Effective governance is based on six key features
- Strategic leadership that sets and champions vision, ethos and strategy.
- Accountability that drives up educational standards and financial performance.
- People with the right skills, experience, qualities and capacity.
- Structures that reinforce clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
- Compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
- Evaluation to monitor and improve the quality and impact of governance.
OIAMFS Governing Body consists of a high calibre of individuals who are experts in their field of work from business, education, healthcare, sports and enterprise. These individuals are listed below.
