Team One In A Million

Family Fun Days with Woodland Well-being
Over the summer, 12 local families came together at All Saints for our Family Fun Days, delivered alongside Woodland Well-being. Across three weeks, families enjoyed team-building activities, woodland exploration, planting, summer games, water play and plenty of opportunities to simply spend quality time together. From taking seeds and strawberry plants home to nurture, to making new memories together, it was wonderful to see families returning each week and building connections.
A huge thank you to Dave and the team at Woodland Well-being, and to all the families who joined us and made the sessions so special!

A Streetwise Summer: Finals, Friendship, and Girls' Football
Over 60 young people came together at Co-op Academy Grange for our Streetwise Summer Finals, competing in Junior and Senior tournaments for the Gurmit Chand Memorial Trophy. It was fantastic to see young people from across our communities coming together through football, demonstrating teamwork, respect and our OIAM values. Congratulations to all of our team and individual award winners. A huge well done to everyone who took part, “My mum is gonna be dead proud of me!”- Harry.
Our Girls’ Streetwise Summer 2026 programme brought together girls from Canterbury, Windhill, Keighley and Woodside for four weeks of competitive football, new skills and new friendships. From developing ball control and dribbling skills to an exciting 8–8 draw and playing in the summer heat, the girls showed fantastic determination while building relationships across our District. The programme finished with an inspiring stadium tour of Bradford City AFC and player awards celebrating their achievements. Well done to all the girls who took part, we’re excited to see our budding young players continue to grow and flourish!

New Padel Taster Sessions Serve Up Excitement!
Throughout July, we took Year 4 pupils from All Saints School to enjoy three fantastic Padel Taster sessions at Salus Padel, Bene Leisure. Coached by former world No.3 squash player Simon Parke, the young people embraced the freedom to play, practise and learn the basics, with every group showing fantastic enthusiasm and displaying great resilience. It was brilliant to see their excitement grow over the weeks, with some already keen to play with their families.
With a new weekly Development Centre launching in September, we can’t wait to see our young people's passion for Padel flourishes. A huge thank you to All Saints School for their continued commitment to enrichment activities and to Salus Padel for welcoming us.

Going for Gold: Celebrating Athletics Success!
On Tuesday 14th July, we celebrated the hard work and achievements of our young people at our Athletics Development Centre with a special awards presentation. Throughout the year, our children have worked hard to progress through the different levels of the Athletics 365 Award, with their efforts recognised through certificates, medals and new OIAM T-shirts. A huge congratulations to everyone for their commitment and determination, and a special thank you to Toks, our dedicated volunteer, for his many years of commitment to supporting our Athletics Development Centre.

Young People Reach New Heights at Doe Park
Our young people had an amazing day at Doe Park, with 27 young people from our Canterbury, Windhill, South Bradford and Keighley Hubs tackling kayaking, raft building, climbing and high ropes. It was fantastic to see them stepping outside their comfort zones, overcoming fears and encouraging one another throughout the day. For many, the biggest achievement was overcoming their fears; “I feel proper proud (climbing to the top) because when I was younger, I was scared of heights”. - Billy
A huge well done to all our young people for showing such determination, teamwork and resilience!

Summer Thrills, New Adventures & Lasting Memories
This summer, our young people enjoyed two fantastic theme park trips, bringing together 25 young people from across our Windhill, Keighley, Canterbury and Woodside Hubs. From the thrills of Blackpool Pleasure Beach to the excitement of Flamingo Land, both trips gave our young people the chance to have fun, spend quality time together and step outside their comfort zones. It was brilliant to see new friendships forming, confidence growing and plenty of lasting memories being made... with some very tired young people on the journeys home!
“Thank you for taking us today and for driving. It’s been so much fun!” - Noah

World of Work - Where are they Now? A Catch-Up with Kayleigh
We’re delighted to have caught up with former One In A Million attendee Kayleigh, whose 2023 World of Work visit to Emerald Group Publishing sparked a passion for writing and a new belief in her potential. Following a two-year mentorship with the Emerald team, Kayleigh has gone on to become the first in her family to attend university, where she is studying English and Creative Writing. Her journey is a powerful example of how the right opportunity, encouragement and support can change a young person’s future.
Watch our video interview with Kayleigh to hear, in her own words, how the World of Work programme helped her believe in herself and pursue her dreams.

Pedalling Together, Changing Lives: Packetts Tour de Dales 2026
The Packetts Tour de Dales 2026 celebrated its 10th anniversary over the weekend of 25–26 July, bringing together cyclists, businesses, supporters and families for an incredible two-day challenge through the Yorkshire Dales, all in support of One In A Million. Over the two days, riders took on either the Advanced route (196 miles) or the Intermediate challenge (127 miles). Along the way, they showed incredible determination, resilience and teamwork, proving that nobody rides alone.
A huge thank you to our main sponsor, Packetts Insurance, who have supported the event for 10 years, and to Capricorn Corporate Services UK, Black Sheep Brewery, Saltaire Brewery and Nuffield Health for their generous support. Most importantly, thank you to every rider, volunteer and supporter who helped make the weekend such a fantastic celebration of community and fundraising. Every mile ridden will help us create brighter futures for children and young people across the Bradford District.

We were delighted to welcome 27 teams to Shipley Golf Club for our 20th 'Annual One In A Million Charity Golf Day', bringing together supporters, corporate partners and local businesses for a fantastic day of golf, friendly competition, networking and fundraising.
