Children From Windhill Experience The Blockbuster T20 Cricket Match Between ‘Yorkshire vs Lancashire’

On Wednesday 8th June 2022, a group of children and young people from our Windhill hub went to watch the T20 Cricket between rivals ‘Yorkshire vs Lancashire’.

It was a what a fantastic game with a very tense but exciting ending too! The weather was perfect for the occasion with a glorious sunset fitting of such an occasion.

The children and young people absolutely loved it and thought it was “really great!”.

Kayden: “I've never been to a cricket stadium or ground like this before! This is the best place I've been to all year! I don't want to leave here, can I sleep here?!”.

Gracie: “(Anna) can you tell my nan when there's another sports event like this on? I want to go to another one, I've caught the bug!”.

When Anna, OIAM Community Activator, asked everybody what their favourite parts were, the responses included, “When they got 6s and the flares went off, and everyone was up dancing to the music” (Gracie). “When Adam (Lyth) (Yorkshire captain) waved at us!” (Elliot/Gracie). One mother messaged Anna later that evening to say that when she picked up her son, Dainton, “He didn't stop talking about it all the way home. He absolutely loved it!”.

Whilst Phillippa said, “Anything to do with sport, I absolutely love it”.

“It was an absolute pleasure to take a small group of young people from our Windhill Hub to watch the T20 Cricket this evening. A big thank you to The Keith Howard Foundation for their continued support and for giving this group a memorable threshold experience at such a prestigious event” (Anna, OIAM Community Activator).
